Free tips and suggestions for healing depression or bipolar disorder

Suggestions:

  1. Believe! Believe that you can get better. Belief is powerful!
The author of this book and numerous other people have
    gotten better.
  2. Don't let anyone tell you that you cannot.
  3. Hang around with others that believe you can heal.
  4. Be humble and admit that you will need some help.
  5. Accept personal responsibility for your life, your actions and your journey to wellness. Don't just put your life in the hands or a doctor or anyone else for that matter. You may use Doctors, therapists, and others to help you but know that you are in control.

Powerful Tips:

  1. Don't go it alone: Isolation can both cause and feed depression. Isolation keeps us from getting to the healing resources we need to get well and stay well. Reach out for support.
  2. Support group: Join a support group. I recommend a 12 step support group such as ACOA, ALANON 800-344-2666 or Emotions Anonymous. Many of the issues these groups deal with are issues depression and bipolar sufferers deal with. Search the Web for one near you.
  3. Keep stress low: High stress is one of the most common triggers for depression and bipolar disorder.
  4. Talk it out with someone close: Be sure to use a trustworthy person.
  5. Get into therapy: See a therapist who shares your values.
  6. If your condition is severe: Be humble enough to seek the professional help of a therapist and psychiatrist. But don't stop there. Use the other tips here also.
  7. Sleep: Be sure to get enough sleep but not too much (7-8hrs). The average person who has not slept for a week (sometimes less) will experience psychotic symptoms. Getting proper sleep is one of the key tools to heal depression and bipolar.
  8. Anger: Depression and bipolar have a lot to do with anger. Depression has been termed anger turned inward and mania, anger turned outward. Learning anger management is therefore crucial to healing.
  9. Faith: If you have faith, use it. Tap into your faith and the power it has to encourage you. Tap into your church or place of worship. God is the strongest support we can have. But remember He usually works through people.
  10. Learn: Learn all you can about depression and bipolar. Read books, listen to talk shows, talk to those who have conquered their depression or bipolar.
